FAQ

Frequently asked questions about BYS-820 Series Infusion Pump

Answers to common questions about product selection, use, and support.

How do I switch between ml/h mode and drop rate mode, and can the values be converted to each other?
The device supports one-key switching between flow rate (ml/h) and drop rate (drops/min) modes; milliliters and drops are converted automatically and the result is displayed directly on the screen, allowing nurses to choose the appropriate unit freely. With the optional drop detector (drop rate sensor), the actual drop rate is monitored in real time, bringing infusion accuracy in drop rate mode to within ±3%.
The occlusion alarm has three levels; how should the level be selected clinically?
The device offers high, medium, and low occlusion alarm pressure levels and dynamically displays the relative pressure on the IV set tubing wall. For routine adult infusion, select the medium level; for pediatrics and patients with fragile vessels, the low level is recommended; for high-viscosity drugs or tubing with high resistance, select the high level. If alarms occur frequently, first check for kinked tubing or a blocked needle, then adjust the pressure level.
Can the pump continue infusing after a power failure? How is the vehicle DC12V connector used?
When mains power is interrupted, it automatically switches to the built-in lithium battery and infusion is not interrupted. It also supports vehicle DC 12 V power, so scenarios such as ambulance transport can be powered directly from the vehicle without being limited to 220 V AC. With a fully charged lithium battery, infusion at 25 ml/h can run continuously for more than 4 hours; at high flow rates the runtime is correspondingly shorter.
Can the voice alarm be turned off? What alarm formats are available?
Alarms combine spoken voice announcements, on-screen text prompts, and audible-visual buzzing. The alarm volume has high, medium, low, and OFF levels and can be adjusted according to clinical needs. To ensure that medical staff detect abnormalities in time, it is recommended to lower the volume as needed for the ward environment rather than turning it off for long periods.
What are the main differences between the BYS-820, 820S, and 820D models?
All three belong to the BYS-820 series and share the same basic infusion functions and alarm hardware architecture. The BYS-820 is the basic model, the BYS-820S is the upgraded basic model, and the BYS-820D is the high-configuration version, equipped with a complete drug dose reference database and infusion record query function (which can query about 2000 records including dosing time, cumulative drug amount, and cumulative solution volume), suitable for departments with higher requirements for medication management and record traceability. The specific configuration is subject to the ordered model.
What is the infusion record (black box) function for, and can records be deleted?
The high-configuration BYS-820D version has an infusion record query system that automatically saves infusion operating records, including set parameters, alarm events, and operating time, for retrospective verification of medical events and medication analysis. As safety audit storage, it generally does not support arbitrary deletion. Whether the basic BYS-820 has the record query function should be confirmed according to the specific ordered model.
