FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Syringe Pump Graseby C6

Answers to common questions about product selection, use, and support.

What is included in the basic configuration of the Graseby C6?
When the carton is opened for the first time, it should contain: an acceptance certificate and warranty card, the Graseby C6 (including the fixing clamp), a user manual and a power cord.
How is the Graseby C6 syringe pump mounted?
The Graseby C6 comes with a fixing clamp, which should be attached to the syringe pump. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically; if the pump is to be placed at a position suited to the patient, horizontal mounting is required. The pump must be placed on a stable surface, such as a tabletop where it will not slide or fall. It can be clamped to a bed rail or to a tall infusion stand (preferably with five legs) using the fixing clamp.
How is the Graseby C6 syringe pump cleaned and maintained?
Apart from cleaning and disinfection, this syringe pump requires no maintenance and can be used in the ward. In particular, it does not need lubrication - in fact, any lubricant containing organic solvents may damage the plastic housing of the pump. After cleaning and disinfection, if you believe the pump requires other servicing, hand it over to a qualified technical service technician.
What is the power supply of the Graseby C6 syringe pump?
It operates on AC power. However, in the event of a power failure or temporary power interruption (such as a disconnected power cord), the pump emits a “beep beep beep” alert, the battery indicator stays green, and it automatically switches to the internal 12V rechargeable battery. Turn off the syringe pump to charge the battery; a full charge takes 16 hours. When fully charged, the syringe pump can operate for 4 hours at an infusion rate of 5 mL/h.
The syringe pump reports a syringe clamping error. What causes it and how should it be handled?
① The syringe is not fully seated in the slot, or the plunger catch is not securely clamped to the plunger; ② an incompatible syringe brand is used. Solution: power off the pump, reopen the clamp and place the syringe fully into the loading slot, then clamp the plunger securely. Preferably use syringes compatible with the pump; non-standard brands must be calibrated by the manufacturer before use.
Occlusion alarms occur frequently. Is manual pressure release required after an alarm?
This model features automatic occlusion pressure release, so manual pressure release is not required. If occlusion alarms occur frequently, check for kinked tubing, a closed three-way stopcock or a blocked needle. The occlusion pressure level can also be lowered according to the clinical scenario. If alarms remain frequent after the line problems are ruled out, contact after-sales service to inspect the pump body.
Can the pump continue infusing after a power failure, and how long does the battery last?
The built-in 12V rechargeable battery automatically takes over after the mains supply is disconnected. When fully charged, it provides about 4 hours of continuous operation at a low infusion rate of 5 ml/h; battery operating time is correspondingly shorter at high infusion rates. If the pump is not used for a long time, charge and discharge the battery periodically to maintain it.
What is the core difference between the C6 and the C6T?
The C6 is the base model. The C6T uniquely features weight mode, which allows entry of the patient's weight and automatic conversion to mcg/kg/min and mg/kg/h doses, and is mostly used in pediatrics and anesthesiology. Other hardware, rates and alarm functions are basically the same for both.
How is Bolus used, and is there any safety protection?
The bolus key can be used to perform a rapid bolus while the pump is running, and the device has a built-in bolus key safety mechanism. Do not hold the bolus key for a long time, to avoid a large dose of drug entering the patient's body at once. The upper bolus rate limit is automatically restricted according to the selected syringe size.
When the volume limit alarm is reached, does the pump stop infusing immediately?
When the total infused volume reaches the set limit, the device emits an audible and visual alarm and stops delivery. Infusion can only be restarted after medical staff confirm and clear the volume limit, preventing drug overdose.
