FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Syringe Pump Graseby F6/F6T

Answers to common questions about product selection, use, and support.

What is included in the standard configuration of the Graseby F6?
When the box is first opened, it should contain: an acceptance certificate and warranty card, the Graseby F6 (with fixing clamp), the user manual, and the power cord.
How is the Graseby F6 syringe pump mounted?
The Graseby F6 comes with a fixing clamp, which should be attached to the syringe pump. It can be mounted either horizontally or vertically; if the pump is to be placed at a position suited to the patient, horizontal mounting is required. The pump must be placed on a stable surface, such as a tabletop where it will not slide or fall. The pump can be clamped to a bed rail with the fixing clamp, or to a tall infusion stand (preferably one with five legs).
How should the Graseby F6 syringe pump be cleaned and maintained?
Apart from cleaning and disinfection, this syringe pump requires no maintenance for use in the ward. In particular, it does not need lubrication - in fact, any lubricant containing organic solvents may damage the plastic of the pump housing. After cleaning and disinfection, if you consider that the pump requires any further servicing, hand it over to a qualified technical service technician.
What is the power supply of the Graseby F6 syringe pump?
It runs on AC power. However, in the event of a power failure or temporary power interruption (such as the power cord being disconnected), the pump will emit a "beep beep beep" alert, the battery indicator will light up green continuously, and it will automatically switch to the internal 12V rechargeable battery. Switch off the syringe pump to charge the battery; a full charge takes 16 hours. Once fully charged, the syringe pump can run for 4 hours at an infusion rate of 5mL/h.
The syringe pump reports a syringe loading error. What causes it and how should it be handled?
(1) The syringe is not fully seated in the slot, or the plunger catch does not grip the plunger firmly; (2) a syringe brand incompatible with the machine is being used. Handling: after switching off the power, reopen the clamp, place the syringe fully into the loading slot and secure the plunger firmly; use a syringe compatible with the machine where possible, and have non-standard brands calibrated by the manufacturer before use.
Occlusion alarms occur frequently. Is manual pressure release required after an alarm?
This model features automatic occlusion pressure release, so manual pressure release is not required. If occlusion alarms occur frequently, check for a kinked line, a clamped three-way stopcock, or a blocked needle; the occlusion pressure level can also be lowered according to the clinical scenario; if alarms remain frequent after line problems have been ruled out, contact after-sales service to inspect the pump body.
Can the pump continue infusing after a power failure, and how long does the battery last?
A built-in 12V rechargeable battery automatically switches the pump to battery power once the mains supply is disconnected. When fully charged, it can operate for approximately 4 hours at a low infusion rate of 5ml/h; at higher infusion rates the battery life is correspondingly shorter. If the pump is not used for a long period, periodic charge and discharge cycles are recommended to maintain the battery.
Can the F6 dual-channel micro syringe pump infuse two drugs simultaneously?
Yes. The F6 is a dual-channel micro syringe pump that can perform two infusions simultaneously, making it suitable for clinical scenarios requiring combined multi-drug infusion, such as the ICU, operating room, and emergency department. A single unit with two channels reduces the number of devices and saves bedside space; with the fixing clamp it can be mounted horizontally or vertically at the bedside or on an infusion stand. For specific channel settings and drug compatibility, follow medical orders and operate according to the user manual.
How is the Bolus function used, and does it have safety protection?
While running, the Bolus key can be used to perform a rapid bolus; the device has a built-in safety mechanism for the Bolus key. Holding the Bolus key down for a long time is not recommended, as this may deliver a large dose of drug into the patient instantaneously; the upper limit of the bolus rate is automatically restricted according to the selected syringe size.
After the limit-volume alarm is triggered, does the pump stop infusing immediately?
When the total infused volume reaches the set limit, the device issues an audible and visual alarm and stops delivery; infusion can only be restarted after medical staff confirm and clear the limit, preventing drug overdose.
